in a glass house
2024
Realized during the Eddie Adams Workshop.
Alice and her family have been experiencing waves of emotions since the passing of her beloved Pete. Without him, the work on the farm feels heavier, but his spirit lingers—whispering through the wind in the branches, giving them the strength to keep the farm going, for Pete and for everyone. With the dairy industry being tough on small cow farms like the Diehls’, Alice and her granddaughters keep baking goods from fresh local produce to bring in visitors and keep the spirit of the farm alive—along with Pete’s.
In a Glass House reflects the openness with which the family welcomed me into their world of grief and resilience. Their home is like glass—both delicate and strong—a place where they care for one another with honesty and tenderness.
